BE PROMISES PARENTS' RESPONSIBILITY SCHOOL UNIFORM SCHOOL'S RESPONSE
Be polite
  • avoid using bad language
  • respect my friends and my teachers
  • bring a letter of absence after illness
  • excuse myself from an extra-mural activity personally
  • be a good sportsman
  • write a letter of absence and provide a doctor's certificate if period of illness exceeds 3 days
  • write a letter of apology when necessary
   
Be self-controlled
  • try to control my tongue and temper
  • walk quietly in the corridor on the left hand side
  • avoid the temptation to take things that don't belong to me
     
Be wise
  • leave sticks, knives and dangerous objects/ weapons alone
  • leave toys and valuables at home
  • have every item of my stationary and clothing marked
  • bring money in a labelled and sealed envelope to my teacher
  • lock my bicycle
  • be wise about dangerous weapons
  • ensure that all items of stationary  and clothing are marked
  • all money sent to school in a labelled, sealed envelope
  • ensure that my child wears a helmet and has a roadworthy bicycle with a chain or lock
 
  • Loose money will not be accepted

Be peace-loving
  • avoid using violence to solve my problems

  • avoid violent and unsuitable TV programmes
  • confide in a trustworthy adult concerning my difficulties
  • respect the environment and all creatures
  • Be wise about inappropriate reading material and television programmes at home - make use of parental control
 
  • Work towards a genuine love and appreciation for all creation by promoting conservation and environmental awareness programmes
Be an advert for  Sunlands
  • Save my chewing gum for home
  • Conduct myself in a fitting manner in the street and public places
  • Practise the be promises

Be punctual
  • Immediate response to the bell
  • Help my child get up early, have breakfast and get them to school on time
  • Report to the secretaries office when late
  • Fetch my child at the appropriate time
 
  • Ring warning and final bell at 07:55
  • Any learner not collected timeously will be taken to aftercare at parents expense
Be courteous
  • Welcome new visitors into our school
  • Greet visitors and staff
  • Give visitors directions to reception
  • Never fight and bully each other
  • Give way to adults at a doorway
  • To instil good manners and lead by example
 
  • Encourage and reward good manners
  • To re-inforce courtesy and respect for each other through a life skills programme
Be proud
  •  of myself, my achievements, my classroom and its contents
  • of my clothes
  • of my hair, keep it neat and clean
  • of my school work
  • to behave well while travelling to and from school and in the school vehicles.
  • Make sure my child has the correct clothing
  • All clothing must be kept neat and mended if necessary
  • Watches are worn at own risk
  • Ensure that my child's hairstyle meets with school regulations
  • See to the hygiene of my child's hairstyle

GIRLS SUMMER UNIFORM

Blue dress white socks and black lace up or buckle shoes. A Sunlands Blazer

GIRLS WINTER UNIFORM

Blue dress, grey stockings or long grey school socks. Blue V-neck jersey and the Sunlands Blazer OR

Tracksuit worn with a long sleeved white shirt and a tie. Sunlands grey socks and black shoes.

GENERAL

Correct school underwear to be worn at all times

BOYS SUMMER UNIFORM

Grey long trousers/short pants. White open-necked, short sleeved shirt. Sunlands grey socks and black lace up school shoes.

BOYS WINTER UNIFORM

Grey long trousers, Grey socks. Blue V-neck jersey. Long sleeved white shirt, a Sunlands tie and Blazer OR The Sunlands tracksuit.

GENERAL

Spencers or vests my be worn provided they do not show at the neckline.

No polo necks, fleecy jackets or anoraks to be worn at school.

Only gold/silver stud or sleeper earrings may be worn at school. Only one per ear will be allowed.

Boys- No earrings or 'bristles'

Watches and medic alert bracelets are permitted

No religious tokens to be worn.

GIRLS HAIR

Tied up with a blue scrunchie/elastic/ribbon or cut short above the collar. NO hair colouring.

No nail polish/colouring or make up may be worn at school.

BOYS HAIR

Hair to be neatly groomed and not drastic hairstyles. No hair colouring.

Navy blue boxed satchels or concertina suitcases may be used.

  • Regular uniform inspection
Be conscientious
  • Complete all tasks on time
  • Write down all the homework on the board
  • Give my best
  • Have my homework book signed by my parents daily
  • Commit myself to the extramural activity of choice for a full season
  • Catch up on lost work when absent
  • Have the necessary equipment and books at school
  • Know when my child's tasks are due and check on progress. Make appointments to see the teacher and adhere to the agreed upon time
  • Check that homework is completed and sign homework book daily
  • Acknowledge receipt of all circulars
  • Instil a sense of commitment in my child by being supportive
  • Replenish my child's stationary
 
  • Projects and tasks due to be set and completion date given well in advance
  • Check will be carried out periodically
